Germanium  Ge, 32

I cleave to the space

left in-between

the sound of rain

on a tin roof

and the first frost,

crystalline and brittle.

I am hard, you’ve said,

a lustrous temptation.

I glisten. I shimmer.

Have you wishing on

a distant star.
